Rachelle Kelly-Church is a proud Barkindji woman on her mother’s side, with connections to Wilcannia, Far West New South Wales. Rachelle has lived, worked, and raised her family on the lands of the Ngunnawal people, for most of her life.
With a strong commitment to justice and self-determination for Aboriginal people, Rachelle’s career spans across both government and community sectors. While she began her professional journey in government, her passion for grassroots advocacy led her to shift into the community sector, where she has focused on advancing the rights, voices, and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
Rachelle holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Canberra and has completed a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. Rachelle was admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of the ACT in June 2025—a significant milestone that reflects more than a decade of dedication, persistence, and cultural strength.
Currently, Rachelle is the Executive Director with Sisters In Spirit Aboriginal Corporation, where she is leading the establishment of a dedicated Aboriginal Women’s Service. This service is founded on the principles of Respect, Rights, and Recognition, and is driven by a commitment to human rights, advocacy, empowerment, and self-determination. Its goal is to create culturally safe, supportive pathways for Aboriginal women, with a strong focus on improving access to justice. It has been a privilege for Rachelle to be part of this journey.
